Lifestyle Newborn Photography in Washington DC & Northern Virginia
NEWBORN SESSION DETAILS
Newborn sessions are designed to be calm, relaxed, and centered around your family’s experience during these first fleeting days with your baby. Sessions typically last about two hours and can take place either in the comfort of your home or in my natural light studio.
Most newborn sessions are scheduled within the first two weeks of your baby’s life, when babies tend to sleep more deeply. That said, babies are beautiful at any stage and can absolutely be photographed if those early weeks pass more quickly than expected.
Sessions are usually scheduled in the morning or at the time of day when the light is most beautiful in your home. I work with natural light to create soft, timeless images that feel genuine and full of connection. The extra time built into the session allows us to move at a comfortable pace, with plenty of space for feeding, soothing, diaper changes, and cuddles so everyone feels relaxed throughout the experience. Your baby’s comfort and safety are always my highest priority.
To make the process as simple as possible for families, I bring a carefully curated newborn client closet to each session. This includes a selection of simple, neutral pieces that photograph beautifully and keep the focus on your baby and the connection within your family. Many parents appreciate knowing they do not need to purchase anything special ahead of time.
Once your session is booked, I will send a detailed styling and preparation guide to help you feel fully prepared for the day. This guide includes tips for preparing your baby, suggestions for what photographs best, and styling recommendations for the entire family.
I also share a curated list of trusted hair and makeup artists if you would like professional help getting ready for your session, allowing you to simply relax and enjoy the experience.
I photograph lifestyle newborn sessions for families throughout Washington DC, Arlington, McLean, Alexandria, Reston, Great Falls, and across Northern Virginia.
